In a murder investigation there are seven possible motives for committing murder. Motive is one of the most important clues when the police are investigating suspects. In the course of 7 programs the series investigates seven murders committed in Denmark, each with a separate motive, just to understand what drives a person to commit the worst crime of all; to kill another person.

Through the records of the Danish state police, the producers of ”The 7 killings” got a unique access to some of the biggest murder cases in Danish criminal history. They provide a rare insight to how some of Denmark’s most experienced murder investigators depict a profile of the perpetrator- based on the motive.
Through interviews with detectives, main witnesses and sources, familiar with the victims and murderer, each story is dramatized, based on true stories.
“You chase a monster and catch a human” is a fraise often used by the police investigators you meet in the program – and is also the premise of the series.
Each story is based on the investigations by the police, but they reassess the live of the villain in order to understand the reason for the crime.
